I’m at Thomas Roskilly in Andover with Cllr Iris Andersen, the hardworking councillor for Andover St Mary’s, friends and supporters.

I’m fundraising for Girls’ Brigade England & Wales – the group in Andover meets on Bridge Street on Fridays ably led by Marian, Anne and two young women.

 

Girls’ Brigade do awesome work in building girls’ skills and confidence so that they become the leaders of the future.

I’m doing 14 challenges on 14 days, and today is having my head shaved. Iris is going to do the first shave.

 

I’m going to look very different afterwards, and there’s an important link to the work that Girls’ Brigade do with our girls.

 

We focus on inner beauty rather than what we look like - celebrate what’s in people’s hearts rather than outward appearances.

 

I don’t always succeed, but I try my best to be the best person that I can be.
